During the winter, between December and April, the Humpback Whales return to the Hawaiian Islands. After feeding in the plankton rich waters off Alaska, they pass the coldest part of the winter in our warm waters. The mature humpbacks grow to be about 52 feet long and weigh between 30 and 50 tons.
